Things to do in Maldives

The Maldives is an excellent destination if you enjoy water sports and gorgeous beaches. The weather of Maldives is warm and tropical with an average yearly temperature of  28°C. So the best months to travel to Maldives are November and April. I chose to travel in January, and I went with several friends. There are almost 172 resorts in Maldives. I chose to stay at Maafushi Island which is an economical island for accommodation when looking at a budget. Maafushi is located in South Male Atoll. Its distance from the airport is 28km. Male Velana International Airport is the main international airport in Maldives.

How to reach the island

To get to the island, a speed boat was my choice. It was arranged by my hotel. They were already at the airport waiting for me. It was the first time I had ever travelled by boat. Reaching the Maafushi island took nearly thirty minutes. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I made the decision to first relax.  It was the afternoon. During the evening, I made the decision to look around.  The island was not huge. It took only thirty minutes to walk around the whole island.

Sun Set

To see the sunset, I headed to the beach. Seeing Sunset caused me to feel quiet, tranquil and appreciative, similar to, thank-you-for-one more day of life-appreciative.
These were the first images I took at Maafushi Island.

Mosque

While strolling around, I came by a mosque. This mosque is so beautiful. It is a breathtaking illustration of Islamic culture and architecture.  It was open for visitors. You can take a tour of the mosque to learn about its history and architecture. The mosque is a fantastic location for photos. The mosque gift shop is a fantastic place to purchase mementoes. The mosque offers cooking classes. Students can learn traditional Maldivian dishes.

Angolo Souvenir shop

I visited the Angolo shop to get a few gifts for my loved ones. I bought some decoration pieces made of walnut wood and cinnamon sticks for my loved ones.

 Day Two

Breakfast was free. It was a typical buffet with an omelette, scrambled eggs, mince, sausages, fruits, yogurt, cereals, juices and tea. After breakfast, I got ready for some excursions. The plan was to go snorkelling, turtle watching at Turtle Reef, eat at the nearby island and even see a few dolphins while we were coming back. A speed boat took us to the sea. The hotel management provided us with the necessary equipment. We were free to explore the underwater world. Observing little reef sharks quietly lazing around the resort's lagoons was an additional incredible experience.
I saw beautiful sites and amazing fish life. After having lunch on a deserted island, we headed back to Maafushi Island. We only spotted a few dolphins on the way back.
The sight of various water tones has a certain enchantment.
Our half-day excursion was over. Dinnertime arrived after a stroll along the beach. We ate dinner on the beach beneath the sky, lit only by candles. The sound of the waves in the water was quite soothing and restful. One of the things the Maldives is well-known for is this.

Day three

The next day we went to spend my day on another Island named Fihalhohi. It is popular for its swaying palm trees and white sand beaches. A lot of undiscovered gems await exploration on this secluded beach. Try the water sports available here, such as diving, snorkelling, boating, canoeing and catamaran sailing.

Canoeing and Catamaran sailing

Using a single-bladed paddle to propel a boat is known as canoeing. Always wear a life jacket and sunscreen for these kinds of water activities. It was breathtaking to see the pristine river while canoeing.
A boat with two parallel, equal-sized hulls is called a catamaran. The centre is where the sails are. They are more popular than regular sailing boats. A popular pastime is visiting the Maldives on a catamaran, which is the perfect way to explore the many breathtaking Islands. We were accompanied by a catamaran. I felt the warm sun on my skin and the breeze in my hair. It was an incredible feeling. Nothing is more romantic than sailing across serene, warm water to witness the sunset.

That was the last day of my trip. To conclude, if you look up what the Maldives is known for, you will find that there is a lot of interesting stuff. You won't have time to experience them all, but the list can go on.
